Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry Department: Telemetry Employment Type: Temporary - 13 weeks (36 hrs/week) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Nurse Manager, Telemetry Pay: Days $65/hr, Nights $70/hr Position Summary Vista Health is seeking a Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) to provide quality nursing care to patients on our Telemetry Unit. Experience 2+ years Telemetry, or related nursing experience preferred. Licensure & Certifications Current Illinois RN license required. Current BLS certification required. ACLS certification within six (6) months of hire. NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within thirty (30) days of hire. Skills Rhythm recognition competency required. Strong clinical, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. JOB SUMMARY Responsible to provide direct nursing care to the customer, and to supervise the day-to- day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants. Responsible for completion of admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Prepare and administer medications and treatments if appropriate as ordered by the physician. Review medication record for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician’s order, and adherence to stop order policies. Administer professional services such as: catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, care of the dead/dying, etc., as required. Participate in the orientation of new customers/family members to the facility. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, as ordered by the physician. Notify the customer’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the customer’s conditions. Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered. Take and record TPR’s, blood pressures, accuchecks, etc., as necessary. Contact the customer’s physician for: Nursing assessment of change of condition. Medication orders or charges. To inform of incidents. To report abnormal results of Lab and X-ray. Anything else pertinent to the customers’ care and well-being. Ensure the nurses’ notes and monthly summaries reflect the care plan and is being followed. Attend staff meetings, etc., as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
