Location: UTower CORE JOB SUMMARY The Associate Nurse Manager, Inpatient plans, oversees, and directs patient care assuring standards of quality, service and safety are met within the philosophy and objectives of the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. Assists in developing roles and responsibilities of all direct reports by fostering a culture of talent management & development within area of specialty. 7. Works with leaders to identify, develop & retain high potential employees by actively engaging them through delegation, stretch assignments, supervision & educational programs. 8. Encourages nursing staff to advance through the Professional Development program. 9. Monitors productivity and flexes appropriately and meets or exceeds financial targets. 10. Works to improve employee engagement through collaboration; holds staff accountable, meets one-on-one with staff, and acknowledges team members for great performance. 11. Participates in and initiates the corrective action process when necessary and ensures that policies are fairly and consistently followed and enforced. 12. Demonstrates active support of the hospital Process Improvement (PI) philosophies and aligns departmental goals to support PI initiatives. 13. Works closely with Direct or Indirect leaders in developing quality improvement/PI processes to assure safe, quality patient outcomes and implements Evidence-Based Best Practices and is actively involved in at least one policy or process improvement committee. 14. Consistently rounds on patients, monitors bedside handoff, and assures responsiveness of staff to call lights. 15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. Follow safety processes and policies including applying proper infection prevention procedures, maintaining a clean environment and equipment, to ensure proper care is given. Complete and document adverse events, infection control and quality control measures as required.
