Time Type: Part time Department: Emergency Department All Locations: 10 Gove Street – Taylor Building Position Summary: The Registered Nurse assumes a leadership role in the Emergency Department. This includes triaging patients to the appropriate level in a timely fashion, providing nursing care to patients of all ages, directing the general patient flow through the department, and taking appropriate steps in following up lab and x-ray results. The nurse is responsible for timely and accurate documentation of his/her nursing care in accordance with policy and procedures. The nurse is also responsible for collaboration with other members in a multi-disciplinary team. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assess the health status of individuals and detect changes in order to take necessary actions. Documents all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner. Documentation to also include (pain assessment/re-assessment, medication administration, and patient ED course). Triages patients and assigns accurate acuity based on standards of care and department policy. Assumes responsibility for direct patient care and prepares patients for exams. Safely and effectively administers medications, tests, and treatments as ordered. Reports adverse reactions to medications and/or treatments in accordance with department policy. Takes a proactive role assisting with patient discharge, hospital transfers, and arranging outpatient testing. Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches and educates patients and caregivers on how to manage illness/injury and home care needs. Recognizes the unique safety needs of elderly and pediatric patients, ensuring they receive assistance as needed. Follows established departmental policies and procedures for environmental safety and infection control. Qualifications and Requirements: Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly preferred. MA RN License required. Current ACLS and PALS Certification required. Minimum of one year RN critical care experience or three years of experience in Med/Surg or Emergency. Hourly rate starting at $50.00 per hour, and up to $70.00 based on years of relevant experience. Overview The Department of Pediatrics at Dartmouth Health Children’s is seeking a full time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Neonatologists. We are looking for pediatric providers to join our neonatal hospitalist team at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH. The team is open to an FNP with newborn experience or a primary care PNP for this role. The Birth Center of Nashua at St. Joseph Hospital provides labor and delivery services as well as Level I nursery care for around 600 families annually, and is designated as a Baby Friendly hospital. Their spacious unit allows personalized and state-of-the-art obstetric, post-partum, and well-baby care. The role includes hospital-based coverage 24/7 at St. Joseph Hospital. The pediatric APP will be responsible for the primary care of a caseload of well-babies, attend high-risk deliveries, serve as team leader in neonatal resuscitations and stabilization of sick infants awaiting transfer. Successful candidates will have experience with pediatrics, in either an inpatient or outpatient setting, and ideally will have experience attending high-risk deliveries and providing initial stabilization in the immediate postnatal period. Opportunities for training to expand skill set to stabilization of acutely ill infants for transport will be provided by the Dartmouth Health neonatal team. The position reports to the St. Joseph Hospital pediatric hospitalist APP Lead and the Section Chief of Neonatology. Yes Essential Functions -Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. -Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education. -Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. -Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates. -Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. -Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
