This group consists of 3 providers, 3 medical assistants and a nurse. The group collaborates well with one another and with the other sections in the office. Clinics move efficiently and RN/MAs work closely together to provide excellent patient care both inside and outside of clinics. Clinics ranging with 10-20 patients in a half day. Patient population is surgery or procedure eligible patients with a medical condition associated with colon and rectal surgery. RN would be responsible for assisting the provider with patient care – including pre-op education, post-op care including wound and/or ostomy care, benign anal/rectal conditional care, and daily patient triage and medical questions or concerns. Although a part of WashU, this specific clinic is a bit smaller than the average and provides close staff and faculty working relationships. Assigned tasks may include rooming patients, obtaining vitals, administering medications in-office, initiating/discontinuing IV fluids, performing point of care lab testing, assisting with procedures and triaging patient phone calls. All responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with applicable state regulations. Responsibilities Provides general nursing services to patients under the supervision of a physician or other licensed provider within the scope of practice for the LPN. Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point of care testing and medication administration. Assists with medical office procedures and initiating/discontinuing IV fluids as directed. Follows HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, Medication Management and Infection Prevention procedures for cleaning and sterilization of equipment and/or instruments. Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
