Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. The Registered Nurse provides direct oversight of the GN, LPN, Technical Partner, ALS Technician, Nurse Extern and Unit Clerks. This oversight includes the Registered Nurse conducting the initial comprehensive assessment and interpreting the assessment to initiate the interprofessional plan of care. This oversight includes supervision of the delegation of duties that are within the scope and capability of the care team supervised. Other related duties as assigned. Each day our Emergency Department treats 300 to 400 patients with chronic and acute issues, ruling out life threatening conditions and intervening when necessary to stop the progression of acute processes. The team sees everything from sore throats, ear infections, lacerations and broken bones to more serious conditions like stroke, heart attack, cardiac arrest, and traumatic injuries from motor vehicle and farming accidents, gunshot wounds and stabbings. Lancaster General Hospital, a Level I-accredited Trauma Center, recently completed a major expansion and remodel of the ED that nearly doubled the size of the department, from 63 beds to 95 beds. This includes 10 beds in our updated and expanded behavioral health unit, and 13 dedicated pediatric beds. A graduate registered nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the graduate registered nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. Supervision means that a licensed registered nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the graduate registered nurse is practicing. All Clinical Nurse 1 RN’s will be required to successfully complete the Nurse Residency Program. CPR Certification - American Heart Association AHA Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider AHA Heart Saver courses for CPR are not accepted required within 30 days of hire.
