Location: Parkland: 5th FLR BLK 600 Shift: 12 hour shift/ nights preferred (open to days) *Must cover at least one shift per week Primary Purpose Performs specified patient care activities and basic clerical tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse and is committed to the provision of patient centered/patient valued care. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIOS Education Must be currently enrolled and maintain enrollment in an accredited nursing school with proper documentation of basic fundamentals of nursing (ex. Makes appropriate notations and records activities performed, such as vital signs, patient ambulation, feeding outcomes, etc. in accordance with standards established by the nursing unit. Monitors ongoing patient status and responds to a patient's change in condition by notifying and assisting nurses and other health team members in handling patient care needs. Maintains, updates, and utilizes knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies and equipment usage to optimize customer care and services. Monitors conditions of patient environment and equipment, i.e. wheelchairs, bed rails, scales, floor conditions, and corrects the condition and/or reports the deficiencies or defects for immediate correction as appropriate. Performs basic data entry functions according to EPIC procedures, such as ordering diets, laboratory tests, and x-rays as appropriate. Escorts patients to other areas, clean designated or special areas, provide or request translation services when applicable, perform quality control checks, and deliver patient specimens when applicable in order to provide optimal patient care. Serves as a resource for other Nursing Students - PRN by assisting with their training and orientation, providing guidance as needed, and other administrative tasks as assigned. Identifies ways to improve work processes and procedures or methods and makes recommendations to supervisor and/or nursing department for appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction that support the overall goals of the nursing unit, the hospital and Parkland. Takes responsibility for own education and professional growth by attending in-service sessions, department meetings, workshops, and reading magazines or journals on nursing care. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impacts the patient care area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland. Senior Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Department

Location: Main Hospital Bldg - 1st Flr Work schedule: Full-time Nights, 7:00 p.m.-7:00 am., with rotating weekends and holidays. Primary Purpose A Registered Nurse (RN) with greater than 2 years of experience. The RN is a licensed professional who uses the Parkland nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery, that focuses on a particular patient population(s)/specific health conditions, by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN utilizes knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. Responsibilities • Performs physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive system including breast examinations, pelvic/genital, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other types of more specialized services or procedures as may be indicated by medical policy or protocols (e.g. gender affirming hormone therapy-GAHT). • Orders, and interprets diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by medical protocols. Performs lab testing per Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations and according to PPGT’s lab manual or manufacturer’s directions. • Provides patient care according to all Medical Standards and Guidelines and/or the specific direction of a supervising physician. Consults with organization COMSO or designee when deviates from PPGT Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&Gs). • Provides relevant health instruction and education to include family planning, sexual counseling, and principles of health promotion • and maintenance. • Documents exam findings and other clinical aspects of direct patient care into the medical record accurately. • Codes billable services accurately based on medical record documentation using accepted practices, i.e. Evaluation and Management (E&M), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and diagnosis codes (ICD-10). • Ensures conformity with the policies and procedures of the affiliate, Texas Medical Practice Act, Physician Assistant Licensing Act, Texas Nurse Practice Act, and rules promulgated under those acts. • Recognizes ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to health center patients throughout the life cycle. • Initiates and monitors appropriate follow-up according to PPGT Medical Standards and Guidelines on all abnormal test results and referrals. • Remains well informed about current contraceptive technology and reproductive and sexual healthcare issues. • Develops and maintains a collaborative working relationship with the Health Center Manager and support staff resulting in a team effort in meeting center goals. • Develops a level of time management that is conducive to seeing 3-4 clinician visits per hour meeting productivity goals and expectations. • Takes an active role in managing patient satisfaction by practicing patient centered care and providing exemplary customer service to patients. • Responds to medical emergencies as provided in the medical protocols and is responsible for maintenance of emergency box • May assist in supervising and participating in the orientation and proctoring of new clinicians. • Administers, supplies, or prescribes medications/devices, including injections, per delegated orders of the Pharmacist-in-charge and the Chief Medical Officer as outlined in The Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines and Pharmacy Manual and as per Title 22, Part 11, Chapter 22 of the Texas Administrative Code. • Maintains an active Prescriptive Authority Agreement which is reviewed with authorizing physician annually. Holds Quality Assurance and Improvement meetings and chart reviews as required by the PAA between the authorizing physician and the clinician. • Has unrestricted access to patient protected health information (PHI) on paper and electronic forms health records for purposes of treatment, payment, and/or healthcare operations. The use of a patient’s protected health information should be limited to information needed for the specific task that is being performed or requested by the individual patient. Disclosure of any patient information must be for purposes of treatment, payment or healthcare operation OR must be accompanied by a valid patient authorization.
