The Licensed Practical Nurse - Mohs will provide a high level of general care and education to patients by using their knowledge and skills to promote the goal of The Ultimate Patient Experience. This role supports our Allergy practice as well. Schedule: Full time, 30+ hours. Availability Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays within operating hours of 7:00am - 7:30pm. Licensed Practical Nurse - Mohs Provide clinical support for Allergy services, including allergy testing, immunotherapy, treatments, patient monitoring, and related clinical duties in accordance with established protocols. Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider. Have a thorough working knowledge of all standard operating protocol and policies that pertain to the clinical department. Have thorough knowledge of all clinical treatments to appropriately care for the patient’s needs. Proficient in pre-care and post-care treatment instructions. Fully understands provider to patient flow and anticipates provider’s next steps to the best of their ability. Complete all SDGU and required training and continued education opportunities within the allotted time frame. Assist the physician in Mohs surgery, medical, cosmetic, allergy, and/or laser procedures. Preps surgical/exam rooms for all procedures and properly cleans exam rooms after every visit. Properly assists provider in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorization, obtaining consents, and/or procedures within established guidelines. Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Conducts pre- and post-operative education with patients. Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team. Takes and monitors patients’ vital signs. Ensures that the correct procedure is being performed on the correct patient. Preps operating room for patient/procedure and inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery. Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, and/or through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. Provides accurate care and handling of specimens. Observes and enforces strict standards of asepsis. Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to surgeon. Cleans OR, cleans/sterilizes instruments (autoclave) post-surgery. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse. Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol. Assists with suturing patients after the surgery, including but not limited to helping to control bleeding and providing wound exposure. Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology. Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum and provides basic, bedside care. Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their post-treatment home care needs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation. Working knowledge and application of HIPAA & OSHA compliance. May be asked to do additional tasks for office and patient care when working in office as needed. Other duties as assigned by supervisor on an as needed basis. Qualifications Pass the NCLEX-PN or state approved comparison. Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing. Active LPN license in the state working in. Prior experience working in an outpatient surgery clinical environment strongly preferred. Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems preferred. If in allergy field and/or office, experience with allergy testing (skin prick, patch, and spirometry) preferred. Must be computer savvy and familiar with Outlook. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Excellent patient relations and customer services skills. Strong follow up stills and ownership/accountability Must be professional, reliable, and dedicated employee. Open availability to work during office and/or scheduled hours. Job Description The PICU is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in Wilmington, DE. This is a 36hrs/wk, rotating shift position. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Nemours Children's Health, Delaware is a 24-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing: acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure, intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. Requirements Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Experienced pediatric intensive care nurse of at least 2 years preferred. Current Delaware or Multistate Compact License Must be CPR certified by the American Heart Association. PALS and ACLS preferred. Major Duties and Responsibilities Directs the daily activities of the licensed practical/vocational nurse and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. Follows the nursing model to promote holistic care for the residents. Ensures that policies and procedures are complied with by nursing personnel assigned. Participates in the admission, discharge and transfers of residents as required. Assesses for changes in residents’ status, notifying the physician and resident’s family or representative and documenting accordingly. Transcribes physician orders to medical record and carries out orders as written. Prepares and administers medications as per physicians’ orders and observes for adverse effects as indicated. Performs wound treatments as per physicians’ orders, observes for changes and documents accordingly as indicated. Schedules follow up appointments for residents and transportation needs as indicated. Provides nursing leadership to nursing personnel assigned to the unit. Provides direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, IV administration, etc. in accordance with current policies and procedures, as assigned. Performs rounds to ensure resident needs are being met and personnel are performing their assigned duties. Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team as needed to ensure residents’ needs are holistically met. Participates in management team meetings as indicated to discuss census changes, resident changes in status or care need, or complaints or concerns. May assist in evaluating work performance of nursing personnel and implements discipline according to operational policies and as directed. Informs appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and files grievances as necessary. Reports any incidents or unusual occurrences to the unit manager, assistant director or nursing or director of nursing and participates in the investigative process as needed. Participates in end of life care as required. Ensures that there is adequate stock of medications, supplies, equipment and notifies appropriate personnel of needs. Initiates, reviews and updates care plans as required. Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication. Participates in the survey process when inspection surveys arise. May participate in QAPI activities as needed or assigned. Ensures that infection control principles are followed and helps correct deficiencies in practice as noted. Other duties as assigned Experience and Education :Required Qualifications  Prior experience in long-term care preferred but not required.  A Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.  Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in practicing state.  Current CPR certification
