Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each side houses 36 patients to a maximum of 72 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. In order for nursing students to maintain their position as a NA, they must continue in a matriculated BSN program and present evidence with an official transcript documenting a 3.0 GPA overall and in the nursing major each semester to the Nurse Manager. Nursing Students are required to submit grade reports/transcripts to the Nurse Manager within 60 days of their course completion. The Nurse Manager will subsequently provide this information to Human Resources. Nursing students employed as NAs, must immediately (within 24 hours) report to their Nurse Manager (in writing) if they have not sustained the academic GPA requirement or discontinued/withdrawn from their matriculated BSN program. Failure to meet and maintain nursing student requirements in lieu of certification will result in termination of the nursing assistant position. If the Nursing Assistant completes a nursing degree and obtains nursing licensure they may continue to practice within the scope of the Nursing Assistant job description until they are able to transition into a different position within the organization.
