Specific hours based on operational needs This position is in the Maternal Fetal Medicine practice located at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The primary role of this position will be to provide complex care coordination, emotional support and education to women experiencing pregnancies which have been identified as high risk. Complex care coordination will include telephone triage, patient portal management, result review and follow-up, diabetic care coordination, treatment plan and medication education, appointment scheduling, and administrative tasks associated with care coordination and management. The incumbent in this position will also be trained to the antenatal testing unit which provides non-stress tests, biophysical profiles, and related diagnostic testing. The incumbent will also provide nursing support and coordination for High Risk OB office and specialty sessions and will be expected to participate in practice-based meetings and/or committees. This position is 27 hours a week, divided into three 9-hour shifts. Once oriented, a hybrid schedule may be supported if operationally feasible. If indicated, administers and documents oxytocin for induction/augmentation of labor after a physician, nurse midwife or qualified intrapartum nurse examines the patient. Performs continuous electronic fetal monitoring and immediately discontinues oxytocin if there is maternal-fetal intolerance. Develops a nursing plan of care based on appropriate data and rationale. Monitors status of patient and fetus if antepartum. Monitors status of infant. Performs physical care, technical procedures and maintains a therapeutic environment. Intervenes in emergency situations. Evaluates and initiates changes in plan of care based on changes in status of patient. Manages the duty assignments of clinical staff which includes, but is not limited to, Staff Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Medical Assistants based on availability of physicians and patient load.
