Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Reporting to the Director of Cardiac Services or designated supervisors and charge nurses, responsibilities include initial assessment, reporting abnormal findings or values to the physician and collaborating with the anesthesiologist and specialist. Responsible for pre-screening patient lab work, mobility, allergies and medication history prior to invasive diagnostic testing/procedures. The RN is responsible for appropriately notifying physician if schedule invasive test or procedure is impacted by assessment. Performs interventions identified specific to the patient’s individual needs to ensure safe, successful invasive diagnostic testing/ procedure. Documents nursing intervention and patient teaching, responsible for plan of discharge or transfer.
