This is a Per diem position As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e., Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, Workforce Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA) etc. Required Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments. Required Credentials Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions at time of hire unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area (refer to requirements per practice area below.) BLS must be maintained in current status until the incumbent obtains the appropriate Life Support Life Support Education required for their practice area (refer to requirements per practice area below) NOTE: Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers. Provides for departmental orientation, onboarding, and initial competency checks for all new team members. Provides case management services to assigned population in addition to coordinating staff assignments in order to assure appropriate levels of service. Assures adequate case management coverage to meet customer expectations. Performs routine case management duties including planning, assessment, resource allocation and outcome tracking. Plans for staffing variances as evidenced by adequate coverage for all areas. Provides up to date clinical expertise to case management staff including new interventions and therapies, changes in clinical protocols and updates in clinical case management services in order to meet the needs of all assigned patient populations. Monthly education provided to staff regarding emerging trends in healthcare services. Secures specific case management educational materials and distributes on a weekly basis to staff. Conduct annual mandatory training to all staff including fire, infectious disease, disaster preparedness. Reports specific outcome measures including productivity, referral patterns, cost savings, utilization in order to trend and provide appropriate analysis of service delivery. Provides scheduled reports on specific criteria-based measures to Director. Provides analysis of data related to outcomes. Makes changes to service and service delivery based on outcome data analysis to improve service levels. Keeps self informed of activities on the unit and makes recommendations for change. Adheres to Attendance Program. Reports to assigned area promptly, being present and available for report at beginning of assigned shift. Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit based teams. Fiscal Responsibility Organizes work to minimize the use of overtime. Identifies and assists in systems improvement that needs simplification or correction. Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.
