Job Summary Responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients of the Special Procedures area while utilizing the nursing process, and acts as a liaison between the Special Procedures area and the nursing units to provide continuity of care and optimal communication. Duties & Responsibilities Provide direct patient care, including examination and treatment, under an approved protocol. Evaluate outcomes and adjust nursing care processes as needed to ensure optimal patient care. Educate patients/family regarding condition, treatment, discharge/transfer planning and follow-up examinations if needed. Seek feedback from patients/family to evaluate understanding and document. Utilize the nursing process to implement goal-directed nursing care for a defined group of patients. Review patient medical record, report abnormal findings to physician, interventional Radiologist and assess lab data to ensure patient preparedness for planned procedure. Ensure signed consent has been obtained. Monitor medical condition of assigned patients at all times and report to Nursing Supervisor, and Physician or designee any patient care problems, changes in condition or unexpected occurrences. Assist radiologist with specialized procedures requiring the use of specialized X-ray equipment, as needed. Anticipate and participate in emergency procedures as necessary. Perform a variety of nursing skills in compliance with physician orders and established Hospital policies and procedures. Communicate with physicians and other departments to consult on patient status and to ensure continuity of care. Respond to cases of cardiopulmonary arrest, fire, disaster or other emergencies in accordance with established procedures. Administer Moderate Sedation in a controlled setting. Assume responsibility for own professional development, setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, inservices and/or reading journals. Act as a liaison between X-ray department and nurses. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Requirements Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a minimum of three years job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI State Licensure is also required. Current BLS, ACLS, Moderate Sedation, and at least 3 years Critical Care/Spec Procedures experience is required. Job Summary Cardiology Float Pool Registered Nurse is responsible for providing quality care to patients prior to, during, and after cardiac stress testing, pre and post cardiac catheterization care, and monitoring patients during pacemaker MRI and CTA testing in accordance with department and hospital policy. Prior to the study, RN will review cardiac health history and will perform a limited physical exam to detect evidence of any of the following: a) heart murmur, b) heart failure, c) carotid bruit, d) gallop rhythm, e) edema, and f) vascular insufficiency and under the approval of cardiologist supervision, modify test if appropriate. RN will screen stress test orders for appropriateness and communicate inappropriate orders and/or possible contraindications to covering Cardiologist for further action and clarification. Monitors the patient throughout the test and in recovery as needed. Insertion and management of IV access for perfusion studies. Administer medications per protocol, including but not limited to Dobutamine and Dipyridamole. Assists Echo with Definity & Bubbles. Assists Cardiologist with CCTA Assessment and administration of medications. Interprets 12 lead EKG, comparing rest with exercise tracings. Notifies Physician any changes in patient’s condition or unexpected occurrences. Recognizes and initiates therapy for life threatening cardiac dysrhythmias under protocols and in accordance with ACLS standards. Compiles preliminary report and enters into stress system. Communicates with covering Cardiologist as appropriate for significant results Prepares patients for a cardiac catheterization and EP cases. Reviews health history and medications. The Nurse Navigator will serve as a clinical resource with expertise in oncology care management and will serve as a liaison throughout the facility and in the community regarding services provided for this unique patient population and will provide expert nursing care, which includes: direct clinical practice, consultation and education. Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and coordination to provide nursing care and guidance to the cancer patient from screening to survivorship. Systematically and continually performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care according to the nursing process and Oncology Nursing Society Standards of Practice. Provides education and information to the patients and their family, helping to make the care seamless, continuous and comprehensive. Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and significant others based on assessment of needs, including psychosocial, and lifestyle practices. Responds to patient request for information regarding the disease process, expected side effects of treatment and community resources. Uses appropriate patient Education documentation modality. Supports the patient during difficult decision-making periods. Assists in coordination of end of life care for patient and family and provides emotional support. Functions in an organized and time conscious manner. The Navigator partners with patients, families, interdisciplinary team, and community resources to provide well-coordinated, timely, compassionate, exemplary, interdisciplinary care and communicates with all members of the healthcare team, as appropriate about patient/family needs and concerns. Initiates and performs ongoing review of policies related to service provided and when appropriate, updates or writes new policies to enhance professional practice. Serves as a resource for community educational events, such as health fairs, screenings, symposiums, and lectures as well as support for staff education. Requirements Bachelor of Science in Nursing required with at least 5 years of nursing experience, in Oncology. Nurse Navigator experience required.
