Overview Our Trauma Surgical Unit is primarily home to our acute care trauma and surgical patient population. Nurses in this area have a 1:6 ratio and specialize in an interdisciplinary team approach to each patient's specific needs. This unit's staff are experts in trauma but also ortho and urology patients as this unit will provide care to this population as well. This unit values collaboration with family practice physicians, hospitalists, as well as a variety of surgical specialists while proudly providing individualized attention to all patients who are hospitalized for illness, surgery, or testing and observation. Responsibilities Plans, coordinates and directs quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients/families. Provides leadership to other team members by articulating and delegating expected standards of care, supervising and encouraging team members, and supporting their contributions. Obtain medications, supplies and medical records needed to provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic are to residents on a continuing basis. Assist in the orientation of new personnel, monitoring their skills and guides and observe care team members that may need assistance with procedures. Qualifications: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Licensed as an RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing. Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required. Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of employment. CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment. Three years of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.
