Fridays 5pm thru Mondays 8 am Job Title/Position : Hospice On Call RN Reports To : Clinical Director JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY : The On-Call Hospice RN is responsible for responding to all of the Hospice patient census and their families, as well as handling any referrals or community inquiries outside of office hours (nights, weekends and holidays). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES : Consistent availability by telephone and email during assigned shifts. Conducts urgent physical and psychosocial assessments of the patient and family during after hours and determines appropriate interventions. Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient. Provides professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of the nursing process. Provides skilled nursing care focusing on pain control and symptom management. In this position you’ll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family centered principles and cost-effective care. Acute Care Team: floats to all Acute Care Floors Critical Care Team: floats to all ICU floors, inclusive of EC, Bone Marrow Transplant, and Adult Congenital Heart. Acute Care - General Med/Surg Transplant Surgical/Ortho Rehab Neuro Pulmonary/Endo/Adolescents PHMU CPCU Cancer Center Critical Care – CICU (3 floors) PICU (4 floors) Bone Marrow Transplant NICU (3 different levels) EC Adult Congenital Heart Disease Preferred 2 years EC and/or ICU RN experience Pediatric experience preferred Shift: Nights 7p-7a full & part time available Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, associate’s degree, or technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement or an associate’s degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license required or must be currently enrolled in a nursing bridge program working toward an MSN with a verified BSN-equivalency or a signed agreement. 9 months professional nursing experience (required) RN License by Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse License Compact CPR – Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association The ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills, good time and resource management skills, flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of unit-specific equipment, and knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, and interdisciplinary collaboration As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
