Department Overview Our Minneapolis neonatal float team is an integral part of nursing services provided within our neonatal community - from the special care nursery up through our level III and level IV neonatal intensive care units. Performs surgical counts (sponges, sharps, and instruments) and documents nursing care on legal records. 8. Handles specimens according to proper procedure. 9. Assists in the clean-up of the operating room following surgery, including proper disposal of used supplies and sharps. 10. Assumes responsibility for intra-operative patient safety related to positioning activities, the use of equipment, and the use of chemicals and solutions. The professional nurse builds from the resources of the community to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individual and families within their homes and communities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care 1. Completes an initial, comprehensive and ongoing comprehensive assessment of patient and family to determine hospice needs. Provides a complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illness(es). 2. Provides professional nursing care by utilizing all elements of nursing process. 3.
