Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. Qualifications Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups. Required Education: Associate's Degree Specific course work: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position. Fellowship RN's must obtain their ACLS, PALS and NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer if required by the department. Crisis Prevention Institute training within ninety (90) days, and then annually, is required for Psych Unit. Preferred Licensure/Certifications: Professional certification preferred. Responsibilities: Maintain and execute the comprehensive Infection Control and Prevention Program Communicate and inform the Infection Control and Prevention Committee of any infection-related issues Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation related to the Infection Control and Prevention Program and Skin Integrity Program Evaluate the status of infection-related practices in the facility through monthly surveillance rounds Participate in employee health and safety committees Review and analyze laboratory reports, assure up-to-date policy/procedure manuals, and review the annual antibiogram Handle employee exposure follow-up procedures, review employee illness logs, and institute appropriate infection control measures Coordinate employee annual TB symptom surveys, flu program, and ensure completion of required vaccinations Requirements: Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing, college, or university Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice nursing in Massachusetts Must have as a minimum, two (2) years clinical experience in a long-term care facility Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic techniques Certification in infection control and/or wound care preferred, but not necessary Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, deal tactfully with personnel and residents, and possess leadership and supervisory ability Additional Requirements: Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care and infection control Must possess patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices Benefits: Weekly Pay Holiday & Overtime Pay Career Advancement Opportunities Exclusive Employer Discount Program 401(k) with Employer Match Available for Full-Time Staff: Employer-Paid Life Insurance Vacation and Personal Time Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity at all levels.
