Required Qualifications : Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program with current licensure or eligibility for licensure in South Carolina. APRN License Type/Certification: PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health NP): (All ages) population focus may be adult only or across the lifespan care of the psychiatric patient. Currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners or as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with the SC Board of Nursing. Minimum of one year of mental Health provider experience. Requires certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). If ACLS is not current, provider must enroll and have received certificate by start date. APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law. Will include management of psychotropic medications and all care needs. Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations. Evaluates and treats based on history, mental status examination, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline. Performs the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division Chief. Initiates referrals to other health care provides, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician when appropriate. Documents and bills for direct care provided. Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice. Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research, when appropriate. Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization. Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education. Potential to precept trainees at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider trainee; and facilitates the learning of other new team members. Works to understand the needs of patients and their families, and assists with care planning and goal setting, working to resolve conflicts when they arise.
