Maintain a close working relationship with the Director of Nursing and the Business Office Manager to assure appropriate and efficient decisions about prospective admissions. Recommend admission decisions to facility management. When admissions determinations are made, communicate with nursing and housekeeping about appropriate room and bed selection. Provides first aid to students in need of immediate care, with referral to registered nurse, private physician or outside emergency services as necessary. Monitors required staff health records and provides tests in accordance with regulatory agency requirements. Keeps up to date and accurate records of examinations, immunizations, illnesses, accidents and other pertinent data of students via progress notes. Administers medications as prescribed. Supervises secured storage of medications. Refers all consults and diagnostic reports to registered nurse for review. Transports students to appointments as necessary. Maintains Nursing Office. Orders supplies and equipment as required. Visits students at home as requested by Director or designee. Keeps abreast of changes in Nursing Services field. These unlicensed individuals may be employed to practice under the immediate and personal supervision of a NYS licensed, currently registered, RN for up to 90 days immediately following graduation pending receipt of a limited permit, which selected candidates must apply for and receive within the same 90-day period. Once a limited permit is received, individuals can practice nursing, under the immediate and personal supervision of a NYS licensed, currently registered, RN at a NYC Health + Hospitals health care setting for up to one (1) year from the date of issuance of the limited permit.
