Accurately document utilization review activities, status determinations, authorizations, denials, and communications in the medical record and STAR system. Submit timely clinical information to payers to prevent technical denials and support authorization and continued stay. Review and route denial notifications for appeal consideration; collaborate with post-denials, RAC, and appeal teams. Monitor insurance coverage and communicate updates to verification and financial teams. Participate in peer-to-peer reviews and advocate for appropriate admission status and continued stay. Changing Lives. ® Respiratory Specialty and Palliative Care Unit (RSCCU) (7 JCP) RSCCU is a 25-bed intermediate, ICU step-down unit that uniquely incorporates two different patient populations on one floor.19 beds include pulmonary care for adult patients with lung diseases and complex pulmonary problems such as: lung transplant, COPD, new/chronic trach patients, obstructive sleep apnea, asthma, cystic fibrosis, ventilator patients, and neuro-muscular disorders.
