Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each side houses 36 patients to a maximum of 72 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. SUMMARY OF JOB The Antenatal Registered Nurse must be able to perform all aspects of the nursing process under the Professional Nursing Law. He/she functions as a coordinator and provider of nursing care in the antenatal testing center to the obstetric woman and her fetus, who has a known or suspected at-risk pregnancy. In collaboration with the maternal-fetal medicine physician, the antenatal RN uses assessment, planning and intervention skills to evaluate the patient’s clinical condition, including the use of patient history, diagnostic test results and symptomology during antenatal testing. The antenatal RN communicates, as appropriate, with the patients, obstetric and maternal-fetal medicine care providers, obstetric office staff, perinatal ultrasonographers, genetic counselors, and labor and delivery staff, changes in a patient’s clinical condition and testing results. The antenatal RN serves as a liaison, educator and patient advocate, and functions within individual patient needs, physician orders, Holy Redeemer Health System policy and procedures, and the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act.
