Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Medication Administration: Accurately prepare, administer, and document medications according to physician orders and company protocols. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program preferred. The UNC REX Post Anesthesia Care Unit is divided into two units: PACU East has 22 PACU bays and 8 OR Holding & Preoperative bays and PACU West with 13 Phase I bays and 20 Phase II bays. In PACU cases include orthopedics, neuro, thoracic, general, bariatrics, plastic, urology and endoscopy. In addition to routine surgical anesthesia recovery on adult and pediatric populations, the PACU provides services for the recovery of medical diagnostic procedures. Nurses in PACU recover complex cases with a passionate team of professionals. Our PACU’s are true multidisciplinary units, where specialties of anesthesiology, surgery, and critical care can intersect and confer about complex perioperative clinical issues in surgical patients. Schedule: • PACU nurses have set schedules that alternate every other week. This allows for better work/life balance and ability to schedule appointments and vacation in advance. • Call requirements include a Saturday OR Sunday day shift every 12 weeks. Rotating Saturday shift about every 7-8 weeks Job Summary: As a Home Health Licensed Practical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Home Health Licensed Practical Nurse assume responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in patient care area. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Knowledge of scope of licensed practical nurse, ability to delegate to nursing support staff. Considerable knowledge of the care and treatment of patients and special procedures that apply to practical nursing. Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively. Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others. Able to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care. Able to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up. Competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support requirements designated by work area or organization. Able to use fine motor skills. Able to record activities, document interventions. Able to use computer and learn new software programs. Able to remain focused and organized. Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required: Work requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program. Highly preferred experience in Home Health Setting for 1+ years, or high acuity experience to include wound vac experience. Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure is required or Multi-State Compact License (If out of state compact license, must obtain permanent NC license within 60-days of employment). Active and current driver's license and automobile insurance BLS Certification is required (If expired, this training will be provided during orientation.)
