The inpatient Registered Nurse administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. The RN may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. The inpatient RN will maintain accurate, detailed reports and records and administer medications to patients while monitoring for reactions and side effects. The RN will monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions. 5 South is a fast‑paced medical telemetry unit at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, offering a diverse and enriching clinical experience within a supportive, team‑oriented environment. The unit cares for patients with a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions—including respiratory, endocrine, renal, and cardiac‑related diagnoses—many of whom require continuous cardiac monitoring, providing staff with strong opportunities to develop advanced assessment and critical‑thinking skills.
