The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Surgery's Endocrine division functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with Surgical Oncologic and Endocrine disorders. Demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in caring for patients with Surgical Oncologic conditions (such as pancreatic, gastric, colon and liver cancers; neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas and small intestine; melanoma and sarcoma) and Endocrine disorders( benign and malignant thyroid disease, hyperparathyroidism, and adrenal tumors) Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, care coordination, and care transitions for patients and families in the defined population. Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. Works within an interdisciplinary team with administration, nursing, physician, and other involved university faculty to assure safe, effective, quality patient care and to promote UI Health Care’s educational and research missions. Provides care within the scope of practice as outlined by state law, licensing, regulations, institutional policy, and practice agreements. May begin practice after credentialing and privileging process has been completed by the University of Iowa Health Care Clinical Staff Office. Active hospital privileges will be required and reviewed on a semi-annual basis to maintain employment within the Department. Education of patient and family, residents and medical students, nursing staff regarding treatment plan. Medical/Clinical Knowledge Practitioners are expected to demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others. Perform a comprehensive history and physical. Evaluate and interpret pertinent lab and imaging studies. Possess working knowledge of appropriate pharmacology, antibiotic stewardship, and narcotic prescriptive practices. Radiation Oncology Full Time 88369BR Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner 2 will work as part of a Team at the Mission Bay and Mt Zion locations within the UCSF Department of Radiation Oncology in a multidisciplinary environment working with Radiation Oncologists, Residents, Registered Nurses, Medical Physicists, Radiation Therapists, Dieticians, and Social Workers in collaboration with referring medical oncologists and surgeons. The NPII reports to and is managed by an APP Manager while working under the supervision of Faculty/Attending Providers. The patient populations may vary but will focus primarily on Solid Tumor cancers. The incumbent will provide care to patients including taking histories; conducting physical exams; document findings and actions as indicated, complex wound care within the department and assist with planning of the course of patients’ treatments for adult populations. The NPII will perform site-specific patient teaching; prepare patients for simulation; may assist with contouring structures for treatment planning; medicate patients as needed; order medications for symptom relief; assist in managing patients in follow-up; and address quality of life issues not limited to skin/wound care, speech/swallowing, adequate nutritional intake; and psycho-social issues.
