Duties Description RNs hired to work within an IRA providing shift work will be assigned to various tasks described below. The RN will be expected to act within their scope of Practice. Prepares individual for and/or assists with examinations and appointments. Maintains health record of individuals’ condition and/or administered treatments. Educates and counsels families of individuals and direct care staff regarding individuals’ health, medications, treatment goals and procedures. Generate PONS and train if warranted during their shift. Monitors medication and supply inventories and completes requisition forms to ensure adequate supplies. May observe and educate the activities of direct care staff, including the administration of medication, to ensure compliance with regulations such as medication certifications, competencies of direct care staff. Attends to individuals’ personal needs, including activities of daily living and hygiene tasks, such as bathing, dressing, feeding and grooming. May perform housekeeping tasks, such as changing linens, and assist other staff in cleaning to ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for individuals. Engages with individuals routinely, communicates to families, listens to concerns, and encourages them to participate in treatment and rehabilitation activities. Transcribes medications/treatments on EMAR and paper MAR and monitors for completion and accuracy. Provides approval to start a new medication/treatment.
