Description Job Summary Leads and provides consultation to Nicklaus Children Health System (NCHS) in the clinical review, evaluation and procurement of products and leads multi-disciplinary teams to decrease product variation, utilization and costs through the development of consensus supply utilization programs and initiatives. Works closely with Critical Care and Post-Operative areas and teams representing all hospital sites to review contracts and assist with the value analysis process. Responsible for gathering information from clinicians, communicating and soliciting feedback from hospital personnel evaluating the quality of the products in review, and coordinating and assisting, as necessary, in the implementation and conversion of products. Responsible for acting as a resource for Supply Chain Managers, Clinical personnel, Executive Nursing and Surgery Leadership, and value analysis committees and external contracting/clinical committees. Job Specific Duties Manages the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, & completion of value analysis projects across NCHS ensuring consistency with NCHS' strategy, commitments, & goals. Analyzes product research, outcomes data, and financial analyses to ensure that the hospital supply management activities optimize the delivery of cost effective quality healthcare. Serves as a liaison between the Supply Chain department, Group Purchasing Organization, vendor community, hospital leaders, & medical staff to ensure cost-effective utilization of products/services. Coordinates product evaluations and financial reviews to ensure all stakeholders are represented. Drives the process by interacting with all appropriate department leaders to develop, coordinate, and integrate cost-management programs into departmental services. Provides clinical and strategic expertise that facilitates supply expense management while continuously improving quality, safety, and satisfaction through clinical engagement. Monitors all evaluation to ensure teams remain focused and standard evaluation process is maintained. Reviews hospital benchmark reports in order to develop targeted areas for savings opportunities. Acts as facilitator for value analysis committee and any sub teams. Evaluates all kits and trays versus individual component parts for maximum cost-effectiveness. Evaluates the cost-effectiveness of “reusable” versus “disposable” products. Ensures all trials and evaluations are unbiased and conducted in a professional manner. Prepares agenda with team leaders for monthly Value Analysis Team (VAT) meeting. Responsible for educating staff on new products, product conversions, product substitutions, appropriate use of products and reduction of variance across all departments of the organization. Responsible for developing and facilitating product evaluations and validations in clinical areas by working closely with end-users. Reviews and remains updated in clinical and operational evidence based literature. Provides interactive model and proactively brings physicians into the product selection process, cost benefit, and clinical outcome discussions. Partners with Finance and leaders to model financial impacts of proposed changes. Collaborates with Risk Management on product recall management. Ensures all recalled items are identified. Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree - BSN; A graduate of a state approved school of nursing RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) – maintain active and in good standing throughout employment 3 years of working with leadership/management 5 years of experience as a nurse in an acute care setting Experience working with medical supplies, supply chain operations, or value and cost-benefit analysis Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Master's in nursing, business, or related field preferred. Contact physicians to obtain orders for continued service provision or add on services, as needed. Review and approve all patient information submitted by the licensed professional (LP). Review orders as written by clinicians; approve or decline as appropriate. Follow up with licensed professional (LP), as necessary, when editing and order. Ensure all orders are complete, including frequency, and that any corrections are made by the licensed professional who wrote the order, prior to approving the order; complete any follow up tasks as deemed necessary, by order. Enter and approve all orders; route to medical records to be sent for physician signature. Ensure that there are existing orders for requested medical supplies. Enter detailed non-admit information into patient record in coordination notes if no visit was made; ensure the branch director is informed approve the non-admission. Review and process all wound score deviations, documenting any action and follow up. Review and process vital sign alert reports; document follow-up action and physician notification. Receive lab reports and assess for normality; fax lab report to the physician with signature indicating review. Scan both the reviewed labs and the fax confirmation page (showing it was sent to physician) to medical records for uploading into the patient chart. Initiate employee and patient infection reports, as necessary. Complete review of evaluation documentation and plans of care (POC). Review the data submitted to ensure accuracy with the POC; follow up on any documentation that requires correction. Process POC and verify the correct start of care date. Review comprehensive assessments that cannot be processed due to licensed professional documentation deficiencies; follow up appropriately. Perform and maintain ongoing chart audits according to standard operating procedure. Assist with hospice item set data, as requested; review every error message and to seek guidance from the branch director prior to locking. May perform all duties and visit expectations of a licensed professional, as needed. May participate in on-call rotation, as needed. Any additional duties assigned by supervisor.
