Job Description Summary Oncology Nurses have the privilege of consistently spending one on one time with patients, developing strong personal relationships with both them and their families. Oncology nurses provide comfort and support throughout the process of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Our nurses collaborate with radiation therapists, resident physician, social workers, dosimetrists, and physicists. MUSC has 3 radiation oncology clinics locations in the Charleston area: Hollings Cancer Center, MUSC Main Hospital, and MUSC Radiation Oncology in Mount Pleasant. These clinics manager and treat patients with complex cancer diagnoses at differing stages. We see patients of all ages, although we predominantly treat adults. We treat all diagnoses, but the most common are neurologic, head and neck, gynelogic, breast, lung/thoracic, Gastrointestinal (GI) and Genitourinary (GI), prostate, and sarcomes. The treatment modalities include external beam radiation, brachytherapy, and gamma knife.
