Responds to patient care situations and uses knowledge and experience to find solutions to problems. Practices within standards of the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies. Registered Nurse III: Under the direct supervision of the Unit Nursing Coordinator, the RN III utilizes the Nursing Process to manage patients' presenting behavior and assist in meeting immediate and long-term needs for help. Anticipates patient care situations and uses knowledge, experience and expertise to proactively plan solutions to anticipated problems. Practices within standards of the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies. YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. Minimum Qualifications Registered Nurse I: Education : Graduation from a recognized nursing program with either affiliate or postgraduate courses and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, and psychiatric nursing. Experience : Experience is limited to that required for registration. License/Certification: Current license as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : An employee may be required to work additional hours beyond their normal work shift, engaged in work that is characteristic of their classification, in order to meet patient care needs/safe staffing levels, established by the Nursing Department of New Hampshire Hospital. Receives pertinent data from subordinates relative to physical/psychological changes in the residents and determines course of intervention if required to maintain facility standards; will be assigned to provide in-service education. Participates with physicians in evaluating and assessing residents' physical and emotional states, coordinates implementation of medical regimen. Makes contact with physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals using professional assessment/judgment skills in relating facts as presented during the consultation to convey accurate descriptive information lending itself to informed medical decision making. Administers prescribed medication and makes notations, before and after, of effects of medication given to guard against polypharmacy issues and mismanaged medication regimes and reports these to the Nurse Coordinator. Admits, transfers and discharges residents as directed by the attending physician to provide for timely medical care or least restrictive housing options. Supervises nursing staff assigned to their unit; may assume responsibility as Charge Nurse in absence of Nurse Coordinator. Participates in orientation of new nursing staff. OVERVIEW: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, supervises the nursing personnel and the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during an assigned tour of duty. Such supervision must be in accordance with accepted professional standards and current federal, state and local regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality care is always maintained. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Monitor the daily delivery of nursing care and nursing staff performance as they deliver nursing care to the patients/residents in accordance with established policies and procedures · Plan and conduct shift staff meetings on a regular basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and to assist in the improvement of services · Identify problems or potential problems in the delivery of nursing care to residents and implement corrective action immediately · Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing as necessary · Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the resident's total regimen of care · Begin investigation of all accidents, including staff interviews, data gathering and report writing · Interpret the nursing department's policies and procedures to personnel, resident, visitors and government agencies as required · Ensure staff always maintain confidentiality of resident information · Develop work assignments and/or assist in completing and performing such tasks · Delegate to each Charge Nurse the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to perform his/her assigned duties · Make daily rounds of assigned units at a minimum at the beginning and end of the shift, depending upon the activity of the units · Follow-up on complaints and grievances filed by resident, families or staff. This is a full time night shift RN position for Seton 1 Cardiac Telemetry at Lourdes Hospital Seton 1 is a 25 bed acute care unit at Guthrie Lourdes in Binghamton, NY. Our patient population includes cardiac diagnoses such as heart failure, irregular cardiac rhythms and heart attacks. The unit is also the primary stroke unit in the hospital.
