This position is responsible for functioning as both a caregiver and care manager. In the caregiver role, the RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame implementing the Nursing Process. In the role of care manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers, (nurses and non-nurses) via delegation, coordination, supervision, and validation/evaluation of patient care outcomes. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Patient Care Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. This is a full-time position working (4) 10-hour shifts. Shifts are variable days scheduled Monday through Friday, from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Approximately 3-4 days per month of mandatory scheduled call is required. EXTRA INCENTIVE: Up to $15,000 sign on bonus, subject to two-year Hospital Sign on Bonus Agreement. ( External candidates only. ) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs assessment/data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status. Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of/adherence to pre-determined procedures, policies and care plans. Identifies patient/significant other learning needs, readiness for learning, and implements patient teaching as defined by policy and care plans. Documents in patient’s chart, via electronic medical records and/or paper processes, per policy and in accordance with all regulatory requirements. This position works closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians in order to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. License: Current Washington State RN Licensure. Certification: HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire – AHA or equivalent. Experience: Experience as an acute care registered nurse preferred. Minimum one year of RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments. Manual dexterity of hands and feet to ambulate 8 to 12 hours per shift and adroitly manage multiple pieces of equipment/tubes/invasive lines. Physical strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift and push/pull 60 to 300 pounds (with assistance) as often as 20 times per 8 to 12 hours and perform constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching maneuvers in patient care and use of equipment. Keen mental faculties to perform assessment and decision-making skills in the management of acutely ill patients. Good reading eyesight. Is able to see clearly 20 feet or more, to judge distance and space relationships, and to see peripherally. Visual acuity to observe patient assessment data and use manual/automated documentation tools. Emotional stability: Conducive to dealing with a high stress level for 8 to 12 hours at a time associated with caring for acute patients/families, fast-paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and their families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health care workers. The Women's Health units include: Labor & Delivery: The Labor & Delivery unit is a 29-bed unit handling approximately 3100 deliveries and 2100 ambulatory patients per year. This unit delivers care to a complex range of patients varying in age from newborns to teens, young adults and adults. Within the unit, there are 12 labor and delivery beds, 4 high-risk beds, 3 post-op recovery beds, 3 surgical suites and a 4-bed triage unit. Patients are triaged, admitted, stabilized, delivered or transferred to a level III facility as appropriate. Post Partum: The Postpartum unit is responsible for the post-delivery care of mothers and their infants, low risk antepartum and clean gyn surgeries. Staff on this unit assist with breastfeeding and education while monitoring the healing and recuperation of new mothers. Staff on this unit are also responsible for maintaining the health of the mother and baby while monitoring any complications that arise during the postpartum period and ensure that mothers have a smooth transition from hospital to home. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): The level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a new 15-bed unit. The NICU can care for very preterm, 28 weeks' gestation, to term infants that require additional support. The range of medical conditions include but are not limited to respiratory support, feeding assistance, neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, glucose instability, and antibiotic therapy. NICU RNs attend all high-risk deliveries and assist with initial assessments as needed. Staff RNs provide evidence-based care and place special emphasis on skin-to-skin, breastfeeding, and safe sleep practices. Liberty Birthing Center: The Liberty Birthing Center is a 9-bed LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum all in one room) unit and includes a level II special care nursery with 4 private beds and 2 open beds. There is a 4-bed triage/post-partum area as well. This unit is also equipped with 2 ORs that include a family viewing room. The Christ Hospital Medical Center at Liberty Township is a newer facility with a strong emphasis on patient and family-centered care. This unit has several amenities to offer patients and receives high patient satisfaction scores. A 24-hour laborist physician and a 24-hour NNP are in-house to cover any patient needs on the unit. there is also 24-hour anesthesia coverage in cases where an epidural or c-section are needed.
