Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program CST certification, or based on state regulations, they may be grandfathered in, without being certified Prefer 1-2 years clinical experience in an operating room setting. May accept 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field Must be certified in Basic Life Support ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Prepares and maintains medical equipment and instrumentation for surgical procedures Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up the sterile field to include surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions Follows state and federal facility regulations when attending to patients Performs pre-procedure preparations to the patient's skin and body Completes a safety check prior to start of the procedure on appropriate equipment, supplies, etc. Assembles both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as checking to ensure it is working properly May assist with prep for patient procedure May transport patients to the procedure room May assist with positioning on the procedure table Drapes the patient with surgical drapes per procedure to be performed Passes instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants Retracts, cut sutures and performs other functions under the supervision of the physician performing the procedure Participates in the count of sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments, based on type of procedure performed Helps prepare specimens and assists with the disposition of specimens Applies dressings Post-procedure, assists with patient transfer from the procedure bed to the stretcher Cleans and restocks the procedure room Pulls supplies and instruments for upcoming procedures Assists with the maintenance of physician preference cards and inventory management Assists with the decontamination and cleaning, sterilization and performance of quality testing related to sterilization and high level disinfection Performs other duties as assigned PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS : Ability to be on your feet for long periods and lift or turn disabled patients Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment Ability to concentrate for periods of up to four hours Ability to communicate verbally both in person and on the telephone Ability to use computer keyboard and to view a computer monitor KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the center Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS : Surgical technologists work in clean, well-lighted, well-ventilated environments. Completes the required forms upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge. Ensures the resident’s environment is as free from accidents and hazards. Immediately corrects/addresses potential safety risks as prudent and warranted. Makes written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of shift as required. Ensures that all aspects of resident care plans are implemented and maintained. Make recommendations for care plan changes to the IDT per professional standards. All other duties, as assigned. Responsibilities We are actively hiring for an Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp PACU. Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA . Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or health care organization policies and procedures to include the patient’s cardiovascular system, respiratory system and airway management needs, neurological system, hemodynamic stability, pain and comfort needs, and mental status. Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes. Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions. Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer ( e.g. , Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score [ i.e. , PARSAP], Post Anesthesia Discharge Scoring System [PADSS], White) score accurately as defined by organizational policy. Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care. Implement the plan of care including the following interventions: Preparing for and managing patient recovery from anesthesia – general. P erforming interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period. P erforming interventions to protect patient from infection. M anaging patient’s other co-morbid conditions as applicable. M anaging patient’s fluid as prescribed. A ssessing knowledge level of patient or designated support person and providing education regarding the expected psychosocial response, nutritional management, medication management, pain and comfort management, wound management, and expected responses to the operative or invasive procedure; I nvolving patient or designated support person actively in decisions affecting his or her perioperative plan of care and the rehabilitation process. P rotecting patient’s rights, dignity, and privacy. P roviding age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice; and P roviding consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting. Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes. Transfer care as needed. Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patient’s condition and response to care. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide high-quality care in a supportive senior living environment. Pay is $27–$28 per hour based on experience , along with a $4,000 sign-on bonus . Under the general direction of the Wellness Director, the LPN is responsible for providing quality nursing care and assisting residents in maintaining their highest level of functional independence and psychosocial wellness. This is a full-time position with all shifts available , including opportunities to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends. LPN Duties & Responsibilities Assume responsibility for administering quality care to meet the total needs of residents. Provide medication administration, handling, and storage. Provide medication assistance to residents in accordance with state regulations and company policies, including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation. Maintain the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner. Ensure accurate medication counts and the security of the medication cart and medication storage room during assigned shifts. Comply with company policies and procedures related to controlled substances, narcotic counts, and documentation. Use sound nursing judgment to evaluate changes in resident conditions and report to the Wellness Director and/or physician when appropriate. Observe changes in resident status, needs, or preferences and communicate them to the Wellness Director. Provide comfort and emotional and physical support to residents. Report resident and staff concerns or issues to the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director, as designated. Assist with vital signs and weight monitoring monthly or more frequently as required, and complete all required documentation. LPN Required Skills & Abilities 2+ years of nursing experience preferred, particularly in long-term care, senior living, or geriatrics. Experience working with residents with dementia preferred. Current First Aid and CPR certification. Current, unencumbered LPN license in the state. Knowledge of the physiology and psychology of older adults. Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
