Job Description Summary: The RN Quality Specialist reports directly to the Senior Manager of Quality, Regulatory and Education. The RN Quality Specialist is accountable and responsible for maintaining compliance of all clinical documentation processes. The RN specialist evaluates nursing practices within the medical record to help maximize efficiency and optimize patient care. The RN Quality Specialist will maintain knowledge of all INS standards and practices for infusion therapies, medications, and therapies. In addition, they should be familiar with home health guidelines, rules and regulations for licensure and accreditation. The RN Quality Specialist will need maintain knowledge of pharmacovigilance processes and established Naven Health Standards Working with manufacturers, and specialty pharmacies to ensure documentation meets all standards for compliance and billing. RN Quality Specialist should be familiar with the basic principles of performance improvement. Identifies quality improvement opportunities and participates in quality improvement initiatives in assigned roles as delegated. Job Description: Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent) Review documentation contained in the medical record for appropriateness and completeness and accuracy. Compose, review and monitor plans for treatments. Utilize computer programs to effectively collect, analyze, present, and communicate data to the staff, managers, and leaders. Educate staff members on documentation expectations and guidelines Communicate and educate Infusion nurses on compliance issues regarding documentation and clinical monitoring. Provide timely and in-depth reporting regarding all relevant information regarding missing or incomplete notes to the Senior Manager of Quality and Manager of Quality. Responsible conducting clinical nursing audits for documentation and compliance purposes. Creating, auditing, and sending plans of treatments to providers and pharmacies Maintain communication with nursing staff through email, texting, and tasking in the medical record. Work closely with manufacturer and other specialty pharmacies to ensure documentation accuracy and care provided is within the standards set forth. Create, review for accuracy, and monitor due dates and ensure returns for all Plans of Treatments. Knowledge of pharmacovigilance processes and procedures per the FDA laws and regulations Submission of adverse event reports per manufacturer guidelines. Confirm and upload prescriptions received from our customer related to designated therapy. Participate in performance improvement initiatives. Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Other duties as assigned The alternate or substitute administrator will assume the Administrator’s responsibilities in the event when the Administrator or Home Care Nursing Director of Nursing is not available. The alternate or Substitute administrator meets the qualifications of a the Home Care Administrator role in policy Nursing N-030 Home Health Agency Administrator Supervisory Responsibilities Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? (i.e. hiring, recommending/approving promotions and pay increases, scheduling, performance reviews, discipline, etc.) No X Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements Associate’s degree in nursing Active and unrestricted RN license Five (5) years of relevant clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting and /or home or ambulatory home infusion. Basic Qualifications Strong self-starter who can be consultative and collaborative to influence individuals and departments Able to manage multiple priorities and tasks efficiently and effectively Proven strong Communication Skills – verbal, written, presentation Strong clinical background with direct knowledge of infusion therapies Proven ability to demonstrate value with initiatives Change Management capabilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of quality assurance processes and procedures Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process Knowledge of professional theory, practice, and procedure Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients. Physical Demand Requirements Ability to work on a personal or laptop computer for extended periods of time.
