This role supports comprehensive care across the continuum—from high‑risk assessment and diagnostic workup to treatment, survivorship, and long‑term follow‑up. The ideal candidate brings clinical expertise, patient‑centered communication, and a commitment to evidence‑based oncology practice. **About the Opportunity** The team includes 8 providers, 8 APNs, and 52 ancillary staff. You will provide dedicated support across 3 oncology floors within the hospital. Schedule - Mon-Fri - 8:00A - 4:00. Diagnoses are determined and prioritized from the assessment data using appropriate complex clinical reasoning. The Nurse Practitioner will order and interpret any tests necessary to the medical evaluation. Examples include CBC, serum chemistry, tumor markers, chest x-ray, cat scans, nuclear scans, MRI, venous Doppler studies, EKG and Echo at appropriate oncology disease specific treatment interval as defined by NCCN guidelines. Select and performs tests and therapeutic procedures for the patient as necessary, adhering to scope of practice guidelines and program area's curriculum. Prescribe Drugs: The Nurse Practitioner will prescribe drugs as necessary as appropriate for the Hematology/Oncology office in accordance with state and federal law. Provide preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of episodic, short-term and stable chronic hematologic/oncologic problems. Identifies educational needs of patients and families and collaborates with other members of the multidisciplinary patient care team to develop programs and materials for team members, patient/family and the community. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The surgery team performs a wide variety of highly specialized ENT procedures including cochlear implants, acoustic neuroma removals, free flap reconstructions, Inspire implant surgeries, tracheal resections and more. Our oral surgeries include complex reconstructive and corrective surgeries such as alveolar cleft repairs with hip bone grafts, sagittal split osteotomies, and repairs of midface and mandibular fractures and procedures to restore function and improve patients' quality of life. The Main Operating Room at University of Iowa Health Care features 30 operating rooms dedicated to adult surgical specialties and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our team is one of six specialized perioperative teams, where Registered Nurses and Surgical Technologists work side by side to deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.). Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered. Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order.
