SUMMARY OF JOB The Antenatal Registered Nurse must be able to perform all aspects of the nursing process under the Professional Nursing Law. He/she functions as a coordinator and provider of nursing care in the antenatal testing center to the obstetric woman and her fetus, who has a known or suspected at-risk pregnancy. In collaboration with the maternal-fetal medicine physician, the antenatal RN uses assessment, planning and intervention skills to evaluate the patient’s clinical condition, including the use of patient history, diagnostic test results and symptomology during antenatal testing. The antenatal RN communicates, as appropriate, with the patients, obstetric and maternal-fetal medicine care providers, obstetric office staff, perinatal ultrasonographers, genetic counselors, and labor and delivery staff, changes in a patient’s clinical condition and testing results. The antenatal RN serves as a liaison, educator and patient advocate, and functions within individual patient needs, physician orders, Holy Redeemer Health System policy and procedures, and the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act. JOB TITLE : PACU RN PRN GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Assists in provision of nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting. Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician's orders and centers policies. The center operates Monday through Friday with shifts starting as early as 0530, the closing shift stays until the last patient is discharged (on average 4pm, however can be longer depending on the patient acuity). We have two operating rooms and serve 8-9 patients per day, usually with only one surgeon. Seven Preop/ PACU bays are assigned to a patient for use in both phases of care, and the nursing staff adjust their assignments accordingly. The majority of patients receive spinal anesthesia in preop and during recovery require ambulation of 100 feet. Discharge teaching requires attention to detail as these are all outpatients. Position Summary : The purpose of this position is to provide direct care to residents, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures and report resident needs and concerns to a licensed nurse. Essential Functions : Attend work as scheduled and follow company’s call-off procedures · Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures. · Identify resident problems and concerns and report them immediately to a charge nurse or a licensed nurse. · Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately. · Conduct resident rounds as assigned. · Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance of a licensed nurse. · Attend all in-service classes as assigned and complete assignments. · Document incidents and/or unusual problems according to established facility procedures. · Review care plans and daily assignments and perform nursing care as outlined. · Document in the nursing assistant notes the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident’s response or lack of response to care provided. · Report changes in residents’ conditions to Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor. · Follow facility procedures for admission, discharge and transfer of residents. · Complete documentation accurately, timely and following facility policies and procedures. · Listen to resident and family complaints and report problems to Charge Nurse. · Assure residents have call lights at hand and answer call lights promptly. · Assure residents are given adequate assistance with personal and oral hygiene needs following facility’s policies and procedures. · Assist residents with activities of daily living as documented in the residents’ care plans. · Assure residents are given adequate assistance with meals, nourishment and transportation to meal service area(s). · Check name bands on all assigned residents daily and report to Charge Nurse any bands that have been removed or need to be changed. · Observe infection control procedures. · Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision including the use of safety devices and/or alarms. · Protect the privacy of resident Protected Health Information. · Protect the confidentiality and security of all resident and facility information.
