Description The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide care for a migrant farmworker clinic program in Council Bluffs, IA ! About The Migrant Farmworker Program Farmworkers perform difficult labor and are in the fields from early morning until late evening, sometimes seven days a week. Such a schedule does not facilitate access to health care services. There are also language barriers and transportation issues. Health care clinics are scheduled in locations where farmworkers are working and living, during the hours when workers are available for services. In these locations, workers receive vital exams such as blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and blood profiling to check for anemia, cholesterol, and diabetes. All patients are able to have a complete physical exam. Take advantage of this unique to opportunity provide healthcare to the migrant farm workers of Iowa! Advanced Reg Nurse Practitioner - Pediatric Inpatient/Outpatient (GI)

Within the UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, this position works in collaboration with the attending physicians and will work within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients with GI conditions. In accordance with scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, regulations, institutional policies and practice agreements, the position will conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessments, establish medical diagnoses, order and evaluates diagnostic studies, and develop treatment plans. The position will practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Duties To Include Functions independently and/or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate care of patients. Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment, and plan of care. In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute, and complex care of patients and manages patient's overall care, initiates appropriate referrals and consultations, and identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses. Orders, performs, interprets, and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated. Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions. Prescribes therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical/procedural, needed to achieve expected outcomes. Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care. Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within specialty scope of practice. Facilitates the patient’s transition between and within health care settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients. Participates in departmental educational conferences and clinical care meetings. Accurately and appropriately complete documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR) and other records for compliance, billing, and other regulatory standards. Neurology - Headache Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP/PA)

This position is for an ARNP in the Department of Neurology as part of the Headache/General Neurology. Focus will be on providing personalized care to the Headache/General Neurology patients within the Department of Neurology. Promote the referral of patients to clinic and the Headache/General Neurology unit. Coordinate the care of Headache/General Neurology patients through the process of evaluation. Perform overall medical care and medical management exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided in an outpatient setting and follow up on an as needed basis. Position Summary Will perform pre-operative/pre-anesthesia assessment at the University Campus and Iowa River Landing locations of the Presurgical Evaluation Clinics for patients scheduled for surgery at a UI Healthcare Location; the ARNP will exercise autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided. Shifts will be 10 hours, from 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Position Responsibilities Perform preoperative risk assessments for patients undergoing surgical and procedural sedation across the life span. Reviews patient record including prior anesthetics, surgical and nursing work-up, consultant work-up, and other relevant clinical notes and testing procedures. Evaluates patient according to the standard anesthetic evaluation, understanding that this standard evaluation may evolve with time. This standard evaluation will include obtaining the patient’s medical history, airway exam, examination of heart and lungs, and other clinically indicated organ systems. Evaluate patients comprehensive medical history; order laboratory testing and imaging as necessary. Interpret and follow-up on testing to ensure chronic health conditions are optimized prior to scheduled procedures. Communicating with surgical team about pertinent patient safety concerns regarding surgery. Assist patients in understanding how chronic health conditions impact their overall health and risk associated with surgery and anesthesia. Assists patients in understanding teaching materials provided for their anesthetic. Assists patients in interpretation of NPO instructions. Instruct patients regarding medications to be taken on the day of surgery, including insulin and anticoagulation. Writes orders for appropriate medications in both preoperative and pre-procedure phase of care (e.g. smoking cessation aid, Blood pressure medications, EMLA cream, anti-emetics etc.) Directs requests for relevant outside medical records which may include telephone calls to outside physicians, their offices or hospitals.
