This provider will serve as a primary clinician for medication management, caring for a diverse patient population with complex chronic pain conditions and multifaceted medical histories. The ideal candidate will practice evidence-based pain management, prioritize patient safety, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. Essential Responsibilities ● Serve as the primary provider for medication management of patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. ● Evaluate new patients and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary pain management team. ● Manage opioid and non-opioid analgesic therapies while adhering to federal, state, and institutional prescribing guidelines. ● Maintain and update annual controlled substance/pain management agreements. ● Perform routine monthly monitoring of the Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP/PDMP) in accordance with clinic policies. ● Provide ongoing opioid risk assessment and risk stratification utilizing validated screening tools and clinical judgment. ● Order, interpret, and maintain appropriate urine drug testing and other monitoring measures to promote safe prescribing practices. ● Monitor patients for medication effectiveness, adverse effects, compliance, and opportunities to optimize therapy. ● Perform low-risk office-based procedures, including but not limited to trigger point injections and bursa injections, as credentialed. ● Provide follow-up care for patients undergoing interventional pain procedures performed by interventional pain medicine physicians. ● Educate patients and families regarding pain conditions, treatment options, medication safety, and realistic treatment expectations. ● Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly within the electronic medical record. ● Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the continued growth and development of the Pain Medicine program. ● Attend and actively participate in monthly provider meetings, multidisciplinary case conferences, and morbidity and mortality discussions. ● Support departmental goals and organizational initiatives established by Broadlawns Medical Center. ● Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment through effective communication with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, medical assistants, and ancillary departments. ● Demonstrates flexibility to adapt to changes in workload, schedule, department function and procedures. ● Participates actively in creating a positive and harmonious work environment. Qualifications Required ● Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. ● Current licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in the State of Iowa or eligibility for Iowa licensure. ● National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner. ● Current DEA registration and authority to prescribe controlled substances. ● Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. ● Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient education skills. Preferred ● Experience in pain management, family medicine, internal medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, palliative care, anesthesia, or related specialty. ● Experience preferred in managing controlled substances and chronic opioid therapy. Providers at pain clinic will also provide education. ● Experience performing office-based injections, including trigger point and bursa injections. Providers at pain clinic will provide training. ● Familiarity with opioid stewardship principles, prescription monitoring programs, urine drug testing, and risk mitigation strategies. Our National After-Hours Call Team plays a vital role by providing compassionate telephonic care and clinical direction during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays—ensuring that residents receive timely, high-quality support without unnecessary transfers. In this work-from-home role, you’ll deliver after-hours care virtually (primarily by phone) to aging residents across multiple states. This position offers both autonomy and purpose—you’ll be the trusted voice and clinical partner helping residents and facility staff during critical times, making an immediate impact in the lives of older adults. In this position the provider must be comfortable managing high call volumes and performing at least 30% telehealth visits, including evaluation of acute changes, falls, and controlled substance visits. Providers must be able to manage multiple calls independently while providing care across several states. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Serve as the first line of support for residents and facility staff after-hours, providing direction and medical care over the phone. Use Curana’s telephonic platform to take and place calls, coordinating care between facilities, hospitals, and clinics. Deliver high-quality, cost-effective care to patients—addressing acute, chronic, and behavioral health needs in collaboration with physicians and specialty providers. Perform comprehensive assessments and document encounters accurately and thoroughly in the EMR, ensuring compliance with CMS requirements. Apply Curana’s clinical protocols and practice guidelines to support safe, effective treatment in place whenever possible. Participate in mandatory education and training to stay current with standards of care. Scheduling & Hours: While shift times can vary, we provide coverage to skilled nursing and senior living facilities on weeknights from 5pm- 8am local time, continuous coverage from Friday at 5pm to Monday at 8am. Holiday coverage is also provided beginning at 5pm of the end of the last business day to 8am of the resumption of business hours. Availability and Coverage expectations for this role 48 hours per month with 36 of those hours on the weekends. Qualifications Education and Experience: Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner Current unrestricted NP license in Pennsylvania or New York. Active or willingness to obtain licensure within 30 days is required for the District of Columbia, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. About the Role We are hiring a full-time Inpatient Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for our night team.
