Interprets clinical data and notifies the physician promptly if immediate changes in management are indicated. C. INDIRECT PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES Participates in interdisciplinary patient care rounds by presenting findings on patients as it relates to admission/discharge, and groups on disease specific topics Applies principles of infection control and safety. Responds to hospital codes (Team 20, Dr. Strong, RRT and Code Blue, within assigned unit assignments. Performs other related duties as required. Attends monthly unit meetings. Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization. Position Qualifications: Current NJ licensure as RN required. BLS Certification required. One-year behavioral health experience with a focus on admissions, discharges, and group management related to Depressive Disorders, and Self Harm behaviors preferred. Clinical nursing skills for an experience behavioral health RN. Good oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position. Ability to work semi-independently under the supervision of NM/ADNs. Education : BSN required, or proof of enrollment in an accredited BSN program with completion expected within three (3) years of start date. Description Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to work in our outpatient psychiatry clinic. The PMHNP will assess and diagnose patients with psychiatric disorders and provide treatment plans, may include initiation/continuation of psychotropic medications, referral to social services, and/or transition to higher level of care. Will have ~16 to 20 patients per day depending on new evals vs. follow-up. Schedule: M-F, days no nights/weekends/holidays/on-call Essential Functions : Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems. Responsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population. Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise. Develops appropriate educational systems for patients, families and staff in areas of expertise. Mentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice and patient care. Actively participates in quality improvement and/or research pertinent to area of expertise. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (PMHNP) required Registered Professional Nurse (IL) license. Advance Practice Registered Nurse (IL) license. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse certification by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required as specified by department. Controlled substance license and DEA registration required as specified by the department.
