A Clinical Nurse in the Seasonal Staffing Program performs Nursing duties, as assigned, throughout certain times of the year in which CHOP's operational needs require additional Nursing staff due to high volumes and acuity ("Concentrated Period"), and flex down to no, or limited, scheduled shifts during other times of the year ("Quiet Period"). Although the Concentrated and Quiet Periods will depend upon operational need, the anticipated Concentrated Period will be from September through May, with a Quiet Period from June through August. The "Seasonal Staffing Benefited Program Guidelines" provides further details regarding scheduling and program policies. A Clinical Nurse in the Seasonal Staffing Program practices at the level of an advanced beginner, to expert practitioner, of professional Nursing in accordance with, and guided by the CHOP Nursing Professional Practice Model. A Clinical Nurse at this level demonstrates competence in caring for patients and families and progresses to caring for those with the most complex problems/highest acuity in the designated clinical area.
