This support is provided through two specialized ICUs: our 43 bed Pediatric ICU (PICU) and 24 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Our nursing staff can cross-train for both units. Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses provide advanced illness management and health promotion for patients who require critical care. Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, family-centered and age appropriate nursing care for patients requiring critical care management. Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses continuously monitor the critically patient and react to changes in clinical status. Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses provide patient and family education, advocate for the complex needs of the critically ill child and coordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team as necessary.
