Job Description UC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Nurse (CN I) for the Gastrointestinal 8 East unit for the Day Shift at UC Medical Center. The Gastrointestinal Nurse will support the Medical Centers medicine and Level 1 Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. This 16 bed unit has ratios ranging from 4 to 6 patients per nurse. This nurse will help manage liver patients (pre and post-transplant), cystic fibrosis patients, many off-service patients and some behavioral health components with medical needs. Responsibilities* Pediatric Critical Care Nursing is a specialty within nursing that deals specifically with human responses to life-threatening problems. Critically ill patients are defined as those patients who are at high risk for actual or potential life-threatening health problems. These patients are often highly vulnerable, unstable and complex, thereby requiring intense, rapid response and vigilant nursing care. The PICU nurse must be able to monitor and safeguard the quality of care that the patient receives. The PICU critical care nurse is responsible for ensuring that all critically ill patients and their families receive optimal care.
