Responsibilities: St. Peters Health Partners, Geriatric Inpatient Psychiatry unit is looking for Geropsych Nurses to meet our specialized patient’s needs , over the age of 55 or those younger with complex medical needs . Caring for the aging population, particularly their mental health, holds a significant place in the field of nursing as well as in the SPHP Mission. Geriatric psychiatry nursing on a medical/geropsych inpatient unit empowers nurses to better comprehend the intricacies of both the physical and mental health issues commonly experienced among older adults, while providing effective care. It is essential to acknowledge that mental health issues are just as vital as physical health concerns and can substantially impact an elder's quality of life. Due to this, the geropsych nurse holds a uniquely coveted, essential skillset of managing both the patients physical med-surg and mental health needs. Geriatric psychiatric nurses undergo specialized and extensive training in understanding the aging brain, normal mental changes due to the aging process and those tied to mental health disorders. Geriatric psychiatry nurses are well prepared to devise appropriate care plans for this population as well as assess for key indicators of decompensation from both physical and mental health conditions. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
