JOB TYPE Classification: Non Exempt Supervises Positions: JOB SUMMARY The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health. The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. Provides and documents patient care under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. 4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Experience: 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: Current RN licensure in applicable state required. CPI certification within three months of hire required for Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Central Staffing and Scheduling Office (CSSO). If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course. Assists in critical situations including administering CPR. Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments. Population serviced includes adult, geriatric patients and upon occasion, adolescents. Position is supervised by the Manager, Clinical Operations who reports up through Assistant Director and director Emergency Services. Responsibilities Develop and implement a plan of care and demonstrate leadership to ensure all patient/family needs are met. Monitor patients before, during and after admission and/or procedures. Evaluate the plan of care and the patient's responses: reassess and revise the plan based upon changing needs and priorities. Set up and use all equipment needed for treatments. Act as resource for aides and students for all procedures in the ED and on call. Demonstrate the skill and judgment necessary to implement Physician's orders, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Maintain up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to insure the integration of information for use by the health care team and to insure the totality of quality care. Promote effective working relationships and work cooperatively as part of the department team to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goal and objectives. Contributes to Quality Improvement activities and participates in the departmental Quality Improvement Program.
