Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) needed in Brooklyn Well-staffed Nursing and Rehabilitation Center JOB DESCRIPTION: The Certified Nursing Assistant works directly under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and performs duties in a relation to the personal needs of the resident, care of supplies and equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness, comfort and safety of the resident in his/her environment. REPORTS TO: Charge Nurse, Supervisor and Director of Nursing Services (DNS) Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to write legibly. Physically able to perform the required duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant. Experience as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care or long-term care setting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Residents Provides or assists with bed bath, tub bath, whirlpool and showers. (Supervises safety of same.) Provides personal grooming: i.e. hair, nails, shaving, personal clothing, mouth care, perineal care. Prepares laundry for pick-up and return. Checks resident's body for skin care: i.e. rash, any discoloration or edema. Feeding and Assisting with Feeding (when necessary) Provides calm, pleasant environment. Engages in cluster feeding while seated. Monitors daily intake and keeps nurses informed. Records food intake on Nutrition Work Sheet. Making Beds Uses recommended amount of linen and diapers. Disposes of linen in proper manner. Properly utilizes clean and dirty linen carts. Secures call bells to bed. Beds are made in proper manner. Knowledgeable in procedure for linen precaution. Rehabilitation Assists in ambulation, transfers, ROM exercises and good body alignment where indicated. Uses adaptive devices properly. Cooperates with all rehab disciplines. Keeps accountability sheets up to date with signatures as required. Testing of Urine and Collecting of Specimens Has knowledge of proper procedure. Records results. Informs nurse of results. Assignments Receives daily report from nurse. Consults assignment for special duties and sets proper priorities for following through on assignment. Is familiar with and takes proper action in meeting physical needs of resident. Routinely checks and keeps in order all residents' belongings: i.e. clothing, glasses, hearing aid, prosthesis aid, adaptive devices, etc. Ensures that residents on turning schedule is positioned every two hours or as ordered, and documented. Ensures that residents on toileting schedule are assisted as needed, and documented. Resident is kept clean and dry. Gives assistance to co-workers when needed. Uses good handwashing techniques. Cooperation Works well with co-workers and supervisors. Maintains appropriate relationship with residents, families and peers. Gives assistance to other departments: i.e. recreation, when necessary. Job description Overnight Weekend Supervisor LPN/RN Part time Position at Atlas Healthcare at Daughters of Miriam Purpose of Your Job Position: The primary purpose of your position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs and other nursing personnel. To monitor the performance of CNAs, nursing and non-licensed personnel, provide education and counseling, perform disciplinary action as necessary, and complete performance evaluations. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our Center, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or Nurse Supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Overnight Weekend Supervisor LPN/RN Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative Functions Direct the day-to-day functions of the CNAs or other nursing personnel in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care Center. Ensure that all assigned nursing personnel including CNAs comply with the written policies and procedures established by this Center. Periodically review the department’s policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc. Make recommendations for revisions. Provide discipline and evaluations of assigned CNAs and other nursing personnel in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Center. Issue verbal and written disciplinary warnings to assigned CNAs and other nursing personnel for violations of current rules, regulations, and guidelines of the Center. Ensure that the Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current and reflects the day-to-day nursing procedures performed in this Center. Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with the procedures set forth in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual. Make written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of your shift, as required. Cooperate with other resident services when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident’s total regimen of care is maintained. Ensure that all nursing service personnel are in compliance with their respective job descriptions. Participate in the maintenance and implementation of the Center’s quality assurance program for the nursing service department. Participate in Center surveys or inspections made by authorized government agencies, as may be requested. Periodically review the resident’s written discharge plan. Participate in the updating of the resident’s written discharge plan, as required. Assist in planning the nursing services portion of the resident’s discharge plan, as necessary. Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies, as required. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents, as required. Complete accident/incident reports, as necessary. Provide information to the Billing Office as necessary to insure accurate resident billing. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
