Performs specialized testing and specimen collection including phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, urine specimen collection and processing, urinalysis, urine cultures, and preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis. Provides patient education regarding urologic diagnoses, medications, catheter care, procedural preparation, post-procedure instructions, and treatment plans as directed by the provider. Provides for a safe patient experience through adherence to clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, manufacturer standards, infection prevention guidelines, and reports any potential equipment malfunctions or safety concerns. May support a variety of clerical office functions including answering phones, scheduling appointments, obtaining medical records, scanning documents, prior authorizations, and maintaining accurate patient documentation. Within the scope of Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant, demonstrates clinical knowledge and excellent customer service while answering and triaging patient telephone calls. Documents accurately in the EMR and obtains provider instructions when appropriate. What Registered Nurse contributes to Cardinal Health Nursing is responsible for the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care.
