Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The Office Nurse Practitioner works under supervision and clinical guidance of the practice physician(s). Engages in the practices constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction and supervision of a licensed physician. Reports to supervising physician(s) and designated manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support the medical practice with effective utilization of healthcare resources. Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education. Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Required Licenses and/or Certifications Current State license as an APRN with specialization in Family or Pediatrics. Current state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license Meets and maintains State Licenser, Certification and/or educational requirements as a Nurse Practitioner. Current CPR certification required. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Required Education and Experience Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing. Preferred Education and Experience 3- 5 years of pediatric experience preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Execution of Non-Competition, Confidentiality, and Non-Solicitation Agreement for CMG (Children’s Medical Group, Inc.) required. WORKING CONDITIONS Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities. Our CAMTS-accredited transport team, comprised of NNPs, Flight Nurses, and Emergency Medical Technicians, works collaboratively to deliver outstanding patient care. The NNP is responsible for managing the care and transport of neonates from referring facilities. This role requires proficiency in flight and ambulance treatment modalities, altitude physiology, and emergency procedures. Utilizing an advanced nursing process, the NNP will assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, while accurately documenting patient responses and outcomes. This position requires proficiency in neonatal pathophysiology and technical skills, including lab and x-ray interpretation, intubation, line placement, thoracentesis, thoracotomy, and intraosseous access. In collaboration with physicians and referral teams, the NNP must demonstrate strong leadership through nursing judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. As an advocate for patients and families, the NNP must maintain professional conduct and communication. Additionally, knowledge of healthcare economics is necessary to ensure cost-effective resource utilization. More than 1,000 children per year are admitted into the intensive care units at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital arriving via ambulance, helicopter and airplane from throughout the western United States. The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) is a 18-bed unit for infants and children suffering from a variety of conditions or recovering from surgery. The TCU provides care to patients with a moderate to high complexity of disease such as those recovering from solid organ transplantation, titration of anticoagulant therapy and other infusion, and post-operative specialty surgery care (ENT, neurosurgery). Patients requiring respiratory support including BIPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula and patients requiring mechanical ventilation with tracheostomy in place are also routinely admitted to the TCUP. The Nurse Practitioner will act as a full member of the team taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care in collaboration with attending physicians, fellows and residents. Responsibilities include admitting patients from the Pediatric ED, rounding on patients in the PICU, attending trauma alerts in the Pediatric ED, consulting with the pediatric subspecialists, and educating nurses, APPs, medical students and residents. The 12-bed PICU at Lakeland Regional Health has all private rooms with family friendly amenities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Engages in the practices constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction and supervision of a licensed physician. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support the medical practice and our patients/families throughout the inpatient hospital stay, with effective utilization of healthcare resources. Provides office visits under supervision and within scope of practice. Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Current State license as an APRN or PA with specialization in Family or Pediatrics. CPR, PALS and ATLS training required and/or must be obtained within 90 days of hire. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
