Obtains patient health histories and completes examinations. Orders, performs and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies. Diagnoses and treats acute health problems. Provides health maintenance, screenings and referrals. Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals. Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed. Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records. Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status. Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. May initiate or rescind involuntary admissions within the framework of established supervisory protocol and the Baker Act. Provides quality assurance review through monitoring accuracy and comprehensiveness of patient records. Evaluates hospital records, other psychiatric reports and related data. May assess patients and order restraint/seclusion as outlined in policy and consistent with state and federal law. Provides preventative health care services to long-term patients and provides consultations and referrals for psychiatric evaluations. Provides Outpatient Clinic coverage and Emergency Room Consultation and Med/Surg Inpatient Hospital Consultation Services as directed.
