JOB SUMMARY : The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, Associate Manager and direction of the Cardiologist coordinates the technical and patient care component of cardiac and peripheral angiograms, interventions and other invasive procedures. He/she monitors patients during procedure and records hemodynamics; they also assist the physician in performance of all angiographic, interventional, implants and other cardiac procedures. He/she is responsible for all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures. The Angiography Specialist must maintain a positive approach to working in a fast paced environment. Must take emergency call with a 30 minute response time. Order and interpret labs, diagnostics, and therapy-specific tests. Oversee and perform IV, IM, and SC medication administration and monitor for side effects or adverse events. Create, document, and update individualized infusion care plans and maintain thorough, timely documentation in the EHR. Conduct initial patient evaluations for therapy appropriateness, including payer criteria and clinical suitability for infusion center setting. Maintain open, timely communication with medical directors, referring physicians, and interdisciplinary staff regarding care coordination. Identify urgent or emergent reactions during infusion, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate emergency transfers when necessary. Serve as a clinical leader within the infusion center team; provide guidance to infusion nurses and support staff on patient care and clinical protocols. Support patient education, counseling, and safe transition of care across healthcare settings. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and operational planning efforts across the infusion center.
