Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Job Description Offering great rates, relocation allowance and $30,000 sign-on bonus! The Nemours Neonatology team is looking for an experienced Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider to join our NICU in Wilmington, Delaware. We are expanding this year, adding 14 new inpatient rooms. With this expansion, the NICU will house 46 beds as a contiguous unit. Our shifts are rotating or nights and will require holiday commitments The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nemours Children's provides the best start in life for babies born too early or with medical problems. Our NICU is Level IV, which is the highest level of neonatal care. Our Advanced Practice Providers, Neonatologists and other care providers take care of babies around-the-clock in this high-tech unit. Pediatric surgeons and experts in every specialty have direct access to the NICU. Key Responsibilities Manages and provides care for the patient requiring neonatal intensive care utilizing collaborative consultation with team members, under the direction and supervision (but not necessarily the direct attendance) of an attending neonatologist. Receives a distressed neonate in the Delivery Room and initiates appropriate intervention. Performs a complete newborn physical examination and assessment of gestational age, discriminating between normal and abnormal findings. Conducts parent interviews and takes family history. Collaborates with neonatologists concerning pertinent historical events, physical findings, diagnostic and therapeutic measures initiated on all admissions. Orders appropriate laboratory tests and procedures. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary and appropriate for the care of the patient. Reviews and provides general care items involved in neonatal care, such as temperature stabilization, hyperalimentation therapy, feeding management, and phototherapy. Participates in rounds in NICU. Essential Job Responsibilities Provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care to patients presenting with urgent and non-emergent conditions. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad range of illnesses and injuries in patients of all ages. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe medications as indicated. Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and timely medical records for all patient encounters. Ensure the consistency, quality, and safety of all clinical services provided within OSF OnCall Urgent Care. Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members to deliver coordinated patient care. Educate patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive health measures. Deliver a personalized, patient-centric experience consistent with OSF HealthCare’s Mission and Values. This is a float position - APP will be expected to travel to any clinic within the OCUC platform. Mileage and travel time is reimbursed. Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master of Science in Nursing or Master of Physician Assistant Studies Other Skills/Knowledge: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served. License/Certifications: Licensed to provide either an advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act] OR [physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987 ("Act") Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics.
