The Clinical Nurse on G10East Gynecologic/Radiation Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting.This unit has both day shift and night shift available; 7am - 7pm or 7pm-7am, with rotating weekends and holidays required. The Inpatient G10East Gynecologic/Radiation Unit is a 25 bed unit with our faculty and nursing team treating and providing nursing care management to all types of surgical and radiation oncology inpatient patients. Our primary population is delivered to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Treatment modalities include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, medical management and supportive care to patients with gynecological malignancies and patient undergoing radiation therapy. Responsibilities The Nurse Manager is a professional nurse leader who has 24/7 accountability for a patient care area/department and focuses on safe effective patient and family centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The Nurse Manager maintains a financially stable unit, promotes self and staff development with an emphasis on evidence based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The Nurse Manager ensures that the Swanson Theory of Caring and patient/family centered care are the foundation for nursing practice and that staff at all levels are involved in allocation of resources, interdisciplinary activities and collaboration. Key Accountabilities: Communicates effectively; builds trusting collaborative relationships with staff, peers, physicians, other services/disciplines, and community leaders. Fosters an environment that recognizes and values diversity; represents the organization and provides consultation to the community; promotes shared decision making; promotes community involvement. Manages financial resources based on business plans/general accounting principles; develops and implements retention strategies; provides coaching, counseling and mentoring; promotes a safe staff and patient environment; participates in evaluation of technology. Ensures compliance with regulatory agency standards and policies; supports patient safety and a non-punitive reporting environment; participates in quality improvement process; articulates the link between organization metrics and national quality initiatives/metrics; monitors environment for areas of risk and liability. Responsibilities for Staff Development Coordinator (SDC): Ensure the center maintains appropriate staffing levels and nursing care to support quality resident outcomes. Develop, coordinate, and provide education and training programs for new and existing employees. Conduct employee orientation and ongoing in-service education to ensure compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate and organized education records, competency validations, and required documentation. Assist with admissions as needed and support the nursing department's overall workflow and resident care units. Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify educational needs and promote continuous staff development. Monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements and clinical competencies. Support quality improvement initiatives through education, coaching, and staff development. Qualifications for Staff Development Coordinator (SDC): Must possess a current, active, and unencumbered RN license in the state of Massachusetts Prior experience as a Staff Development Coordinator, Infection Preventionist, or similar educational leadership role within a nursing center or healthcare setting is preferred. Strong ability to build positive relationships and gain support from staff at all levels. Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills. Knowledge of long-term care regulations, nursing education, and staff competency requirements. Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
