FUNCTION Provides, plans coordinates or manages orientation and in-service education for facility employees. QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read analyze and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, nursing/patient progress notes and nursing procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from department heads, customers (patients, family members, physicians, etc.) and the general public. Computer skills preferred. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Care and Services: • Responsible for facility education programs, including orientation and ongoing services. • Designs, plans and provides education programs on all shifts and for all departments. • Participate in staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employees’ performance. • Provide general facility information to all new employees and ongoing in-service education. • Maintains currently education records of classes and content of in-service conducted, attendance and performance of facility employees. • Plans and provides annual schedule of planed education programs. • Creates lesson plans containing objectives, course content, method of instruction and method of evaluation. • Applies adult learning principles. • If provided by the facility, conducts and maintains the nurse aide training program. • In charge of the facility in absence of high ranking management. • Accepts only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with one’s own educational preparation, experience, knowledge and ability and obtains instruction and supervision as necessary when implementing nursing procedures and practices. Monitors and oversees facility’s efforts to comply with company policies, procedures and state and federal law. Reviews billing processes with patient and/or family advising patient and/or family when co-pay or Medicare is not likely to pay for services. Effectively communicates ongoing with patient and family progression/changes in POC. Effectively communicates with Supervisor/Nursing Director/other disciplines in the case. Communication with the patient’s MD (verbally and/or in writing) to obtain effective treatment modalities and/or rehabilitative therapy modalities. Actively communicates in the case conferencing sessions to establish best practices. Submits requests for re-authorization of “more visits needed” to payers timely. Coordinates Community Services for the patient to assist in safe home care needs. Participates in the Performance Improvement Committee process. Performs timely clinical record reviews (CRR) per Agency policy in collaboration with the Nursing Supervisor. Participates in ongoing staff meetings/in-services. Participates in the growth of office by being a willing preceptor for same discipline employees. Participates in the planning, operation and evaluation of the nursing services of the organization.
