Labels and reports malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate person per established policy and procedures. Washes work area daily with disinfectant. Supports and adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety and infection control standards, including compliance with punctuality , overtime, floating , staffing/scheduling, body mechanics, TB screening, JACHO update, attendance, English language, ID badge, and dress code standards. JOB SUMMARY: The nurse will attend to quality patient care in the pre-procedural and post-procedural settings before interventional radiology and interventional cardiology procedures, as well as overseeing nursing care of the patient during non-invasive cardiac procedures including transesophageal echocardiograms and cardioversion. The nurse will assist with patient pre-assessment and scheduling, obtaining required pre-procedural documentation and diagnostic tests, and obtaining IV access. The nurse will also facilitate intraprocedural assessment and monitoring, administration of conscious sedation to the patient during non-invasive cardiac procedures, and monitoring and recovery of cardiac catheterization laboratory and interventional radiology patients post procedurally. The pre/post procedure RN must be a patient care expert in all aspects of procedural preparation and recovery. Expertise and experience with vascular access sites is preferred. The nurse will oversee and monitor the patient for decompensation and complications before, during, and after cardiology and radiology procedures, administer medications and conscious sedation, and function cohesively and communicate effectively within the cardiology/radiology team. Manages the care of patients postoperatively following cath lab and interventional radiology procedures.
