Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, evaluating and comparing possible courses-of-action, and making decisions/recommendations after considering the various possibilities. Conducts daily rounds with physicians and other staff and actively communicates, as needed, to coordinate appropriate care for patients and families. Directs/monitors personnel in the performance of patient care activities in order to ensure adequate patient care and quality of work. Investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues, as needed. Initiates and coordinates individual and team conferences with health team members, patients, and/or families to initiate and revise care plans for optimal, individualized patient care as per care setting. Assesses the personnel requirements of the unit on a daily basis and requests additional personnel when determines they are necessary. Authorizes and assigns overtime to personnel when independently determines this to be appropriate. Completes monthly unit staff schedule on time, accurately, and in collaboration with staff members and management with minimal incidents of absence or unbalanced/short staffing events. Facilitates throughput through early discharge of patients, pull-ahead beds, and timely admission/transfer of patients and forecasting admission. Works with facility services to assure that the department and equipment is maintained to be safe and operational. Prevents complications of care including nosocomial infections. Conducts emergency preparedness reviews. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Job Description Nemours is seeking a Nursing Assistant for our 3 West floor! Position is full-time - 60 hrs every 2 wks, 12-hr rotating shifts, every third holiday, two weekends out of six. This position is responsible for: Assisting with general activities of the patient care unit and assist the health care team with performance of patient care activities, under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse. 3 West is a 24-bed medical surgical unit for patients 0-21 years of age. This unit is designated for orthopedic patients, patients in need of comprehensive rehabilitation and acute rehabilitation of both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, ventilator-dependent patients, and patients with tracheotomies. Additional patient populations include neurosurgical and nonsurgical neurology, and infants transitioning from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Neurology and neurosurgical patients are also cared for on 3 West. This unit was designed to provide single patient care rooms to allow for privacy and family presence during the hospital stay. Responsibilities Ensures an adequate stock of all necessary equipment and supplies in designated areas at established par levels. Ensures a clean and safe patient care unit. Assists patients with activities of daily life (bath, feed, play, etc.) and provides other patient care as directed. Assists other staff in examination or treatment procedures including positioning, holding and comforting patients. Assures all supplies are accurately charged. Contacts pharmacy, dietary, and other departments as designated by the Registered Nurse. Collects patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, other per policy), paying close attention to patient safety, comfort and accuracy of information. Uses Hospital Information Systems as required for patient care, (e.g. documenting vital signs and patient care activities.) Accurately relays information from physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel and others. Transports patients and delivers reports, supplies, etc., to other patient units or Nemours/AIDHC locations as needed. Transports medications from Pharmacy or pneumatic tube system to an appropriate licensed personnel in the patient care area for immediate patient use or storage in the Medication Room on the patient care area. Promotes patient safety and participates in activities that adhere to patient safety standards and procedures. Protects patient privacy and maintains confidentiality. Courteously and professionally covers patient care unit front desk as needed. Job Description Nemours is seeking a Day Medicine Registered Nurse. The Day Medicine Unit has 10 physical bays that can accommodate 10 patients at one time. The Sedation Suite houses two anesthesia induction rooms, two sedation induction rooms and eight recovery bays. We have just expanded to also have the PET/MR Suite which includes one anesthesia and one sedation induction room. Hours of operation for Day Medicine are between 0600 and 1930, Monday through Friday.
